Julio Mariñelarena is one of the most talented Mexican guitarists of his generation; his passionate music-making seduces audiences in Mexico and Europe.
Since completing his postgraduate studies at the world renowned Universität Mozarteum Salzburg, he has committed himself to a clearly defined goal – introducing his audiences to the diversity of the guitar and rekindling enthusiasm for serious music. By combining classical music with elements of pop and rock and traditional Latin-American rhythms, he creates a new musical experience to his delighted audiences around the world.
Julio Mariñelarena was on grant of such prestigious foundation as Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now. His particular commitment to music as an engine for social change earned him a Grant from The National Council on Science and Technology of Mexico to pursue a PhD in Musicology and Music Education at the world-renowned Ludwig Maximilians Universität München.
Julio Mariñelarena pursued a Bachelor Degree in music at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico and at the Musikhochschule für Musik Nürnberg. Currently he serves as Lecturer at the Ludwig Maximilians Universität München.
